Ways to Participate in Worship

Many hands help make Sunday worship a success. This ministry evaluates, plans, and executes worship services. There are many ways that the congregation and lay leaders get involved during Sunday and other services.

Altar Guild

Prepares the altar and assists with various services including Holy Eucharist, Morning Prayer, Lenten services, baptisms, weddings, funerals, memorials and any worship services requested by the rector.

Lectors

Volunteers who read scriptures and prayers during the Sunday and holiday services.

Acolytes

Works with the rector to train members that will play vital roles during the Sunday and holiday services.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lay person licensed by the Bishop to administer the consecrated elements of the eucharist. The eucharist is the sacrament commemorating the Last Supper, in which bread and wine are consecrated and consumed. They also take the consecrated elements to members of the congregation to the sick and shut-in.

Greeters/Ushers

Welcomes the congregation as they enter into the sanctuary before Sunday services. They also hand you a bulletin, bring the elements forward, collect the offering and dismiss each pew for communion. They also take a count for attendance and help the rector with people who can’t come forward for communion.
